Once a candidate for a job is chosen an employment offer letter is usually written and given to the candidate to confirm that they accept the position and the agreed upon terms of the position.

An employment offer letter should include the position that the employee is accepting, the hours that the employee will be working, and the agreed salary. The employment offer letter should also include the start date of the employee, some benefits information (are they eligible immediately?), and if needed, any orientation information.

It is always a good idea to include a sentence in the employment offer letter stating that the letter serves as official notification of the employee’s appointment to a position, but in no way represents an employment contract.
