A company safety policy aims to provide safe working conditions for all employees, to provide complete instructions covering safe working methods, and to make available special equipment required to protect employees against particular hazards.

The following gives you examples of safety rules that may be used when creating or implementing your company safety policy.

A safety policy commonly states that employees are expected to observe all applicable safety requirements, to make sure that employees and their vehicles have all available safety equipment, to use the safety equipment provided, to practice safety at all times, and to report immediately any unsafe or hazardous conditions to the employee’s supervisor. A thorough safety policy requires employees to help detect and eliminate unsafe conditions or acts at all times.

A safety policy may require attendance at safety training meetings arranged by the company. The safety policy may also stipulate that attendance is mandatory when speakers from outside agencies visit the company. Employees who violate safety policy rules or fail to attend safety meetings are subject to discipline, which can include termination of employment.
